DIY: Headboard

My poor bed has been headless for nearly two and a half months. That all ended yesterday when I finally assembled all of the parts for my homemade headboard! Here is how it all went down...

After measuring our bed (queen-size) I determined the dimensions that I wanted our headboard to be. 62" w 72" h After that I purchased upholstery foam and batting. Then I decided to save a little dough on fabric by picking up an inexpensive linen curtain panel from Ikea (it came with two panels, the second one I used to recover the bench at the end of the bed). After all of that it was off to the big "Orange" store for wood. From there it's just like recovering a dining room chair.

Step one: staple the foam to the board

They cut the wood for me at the store and all we needed was some plywood and three 1x2's. All I needed at home was room to work and a staple gun. If only I had a holster for my staple gun...that would be awesome.

Step two: staple the batting over the foam and onto the board

Step three: staple the fabric over the batting/foam
Step four: screw the three 1x2s to the back of the headboard

Now for the big reveal...

Ta da! What do ya'll think?
