Dine In

A couple of months ago I shared some pics of my dining room in progress. We are still lacking side chairs and need to reupholster the vintage chairs that sit at either end. I like to pretend that they are snooty and insult each others shabbiness in British accents.

Chair #1: "Why, dear fellow, if I looked as ragged as you I would bury myself in the yard."

Chair #2: "Oh, be a good chap and move thyself to the garage to save all of our eyes from your hideousness."

While the chairs have not been a priority I have been keeping a watchful eye out for replacements for the cafe chairs that live their now. These little chairs will later live around the game table in the family room.

Cafe Chair: "I'm just glad to be here. Please, pass the scones. I don't have arms."

Overstock revealed these to me today: Forza Twill Mid-Century Style Accent Chair (set of 2!) for $339.99

Ronnie Wire Base White Chair (set of 2!) $146.99

While I heart Eames I doubt I will ever be able to afford or have the guts to spend the dough on originals. Lucky ducky, like most designer items there are knock-offs out in the world that are just as lovely with an even lovelier price tag. With the exception knock-off designer handbags. Just don't do it.

Something Mid-Century is definitely in order to match the time period of both our house and our dining table. Remind me to share the story of how this one-of-a-kind table and dresser came to live with us last year.

Hide-A-Pup

Dogs are the best, are they not? We all love them but don't always like to see (or smell) traces of them. This includes dog beds, toys, crates and their special "surprises." I know quite a few people who crate their dogs when they leave the house to prevent the latter. Crates are great (I appreciate unintentional rhyming), they keep pups safe and you have peace of mind.
But I doubt any of us love the look of the crate. It can really throw off the look you created in a beautiful room. Until now...

Thank you, Denhaus! The furniture designer has created dog crates that look and serve as end tables. They are beautiful and there is a design for every style. Here are just a couple of my favorites. But to add even more joy to this solution is the fact that for the next nine hours Denhaus is being featured on the fabulous sale site, Ideeli. We are talking major discounts, kiddos.

Take a Seat

Sitting on the porch overlooking the water my mind wandered to sofas this morning. What? You don't think about sofas? I bet my friends over at Young House Love and UrbanGrace know what I'm talking about. Furniture is art and I love and appreciate it as so.

Here are some of my favorite obsessions as of late:
These two lovelies are from Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams. BF and I stalked Liam for years before finally moving away from the neighborhood where the store was located. Sorry for the picture quality, it doesn't give the plush navy velvet with nail head trim justice. It was even more comfortable than it looks. I could die a happy woman on this couch.
The next two beauties are the same Tailor Sofa from Crate&Barrel. The new furniture designs that they came out with after the new year are really fabulous. I can't decide which upholstery I enjoy more the classic white linen that really shows of the lines and nail head or the masculine stripe. I love pieces that look like a man's suit. This piece is amazing. I have no idea where I found it originally, it has been sitting in my furniture file for so long that its origin escapes me. But look how pretty! Loving the masculine, distressed leather paired with the feminine white washed framing.

While in the Caribbean I have been pondering what I want to be when I grow up. Based on the place that my mind wanders to every spare moment of the day it should be obvious. I was born to sit on sofas.
